There seems to be a tap water vs bottled water theme revolving in my life at the moment.
We recently got new water filters installed at home and at the office which has resulted in a significant increase in my water intake (and thus output, not that you needed to know). Then the other week we were having a discussion about buying water vs drinking tap water. The conclusion, yeah I’d drink tap water. I don’t think I would go as far as drinking water from a public toilet (tap, not bowl), but otherwise I’m open to drinking tap water.
A couple of day later my cousin saw a bottle of Fiji water on my desk and told me to watch this video on The Story of Bottled Water. It’s a really clever video and might make you think twice about paying for something that’s practically free (might save you a few bucks too).
With all these water related things flowing in my life I can only think the universe is trying to tell me something … Might bathe in the thought and get back to you.

If you saw a flyer on a car and you really wanted it, would you take it? As you can see, yes I would.
In my defense this car had 2 of these flyers; one on the windscreen and one in the door handle – direct in my line of vision when I exited my car. It was practically screaming “Take me!”. For all we know, the person handing out the flyers probably had a quota to meet and since there was an empty parking spot next to the car in question, they put it on the passenger door handle so I would purposely see it, and take it. Yeah I think that’s what happened.

A block of fudge this big (and yummy) would send anyone straight to the dentist. Oh well, at least it will be worth it.

One of the great things about working at Milsons Point is the view. And one of the great things about where I work is the perks. Vintage French Champagne and a box of 24 mini cupcakes to celebrate … Friday? Yeah that’s enough reason to celebrate.

I was a bit skeptical when I first read about the Griffin AirCurve. I didn’t think this tiny piece of plastic – with no electronics or batteries – could be that great at amplifying sound from the iPhone. Look at it, it’s just a slab of plastic with a slot in the middle. I’ll be honest, the main reason I got it was because I wanted a cool iPhone stand (and it matched my laptop stand), I didn’t care so much about the amplifying factor. That all changed when I had a listen.
This might sound like an ad but I can assure you I’m not getting paid to say this, I’m just really impressed. Like really surprisingly impressed. This stand actually makes you want to listen to music from your iPhone and it’s environmentally friendly too – no power or batteries needed.
When you look closer you’ll see that there’s some mathematical genius behind the construction. I’m not a sound engineer so don’t ask me to explain it, to me it just looks like an ear.

Pretty cool huh?

I grew up loosing games to my older brother all the time and was convinced that he always somehow cheated. It didn’t matter what the game was, be it Monopoly, Connect-4, Guess who, marbles, cards, anything. He always won. And I usually ended up crying like a sore loser. Boo hoo, let’s have a pity party.
When computers, Nintendos and hand-held consoles came along the story was still the same. If my brother didn’t beat me (by sheer luck I tell you), the computer sure did and again I was convinced that either he or the computer were somehow cheating. Okay, so I didn’t lose to the computer all the time, but when I did I was convinced it was because the computer cheated. And I know it’s totally pointless screaming and shaking your fist at a Nintendo but it just feels so good.
You’d think that by now, 10 years later (older and wiser), I’d be over my delusional paranoia that the computer cheats. I’m afraid not, if anything I’m more convinced that they cheat. I recently started playing Monopoly on my iPhone and I swear it’s rigged! How come the computer always lands nice and safe on free parking or Go (right next to my Boardwalk Hotel), when I consistently land on their Hotels or Income Tax. Gr… It’s rigged I tell you.
Am I just paranoid?

After a few quick calls, a dash to the fish markets and a quick clean of the backyard barbie; we had an impromptu party for my mum’s birthday. With the whole family coming over my grandma decided to teach me her secret satay recipes, complete with peanut sauce and all. It’s been years since she’s made it but you know what, they still taste just as awesome.
Here’s my little fatty bum working those puppy dog eyes. I’m sure she scored a few bits and piece from various people throughout the night, I can’t blame them though, it’s so hard to resist those adorable eyes.

Whenever I tell someone I’m reading an autobiography about a guy addicted to methamphetamine, Tweak, I get the same reaction every time: One eyebrow slightly raised and a high pitched “Really?”. Yes, really! I’m READING a book about methamphetamine, I’m not USING (nor will I ever use, just in case you were wondering).
It’s the first time I’ve read an autobiography and I suspect it’ll be the first of many to come. In fact I’ve already started on my second, Beautiful Boy, which is the follow up book from Tweak.
Tweak is a fascinating read, and a nice change from the junk I use to read, I swear if I had to read one more “Edward is so beautiful” or “Edward is so perfect” I would have stabbed myself in the eye. With every page turn you’re anxious as to whether Nic (the author) will fall back into the trap using meth again and when you think things couldn’t get any worse, think again. Things get pretty messed up. Like really messed up, to the point where my legs went wobbly reading it.
The follow up book, Beautiful Boy, is written by Nic’s father which is also just as fascinating because we get to see things from a different point of view. If you read Tweak, you have to read Beautiful Boy as well, the two go hand in hand. Great books!
Now what’s next …

It’s probably a good thing this photo is blurry, but as you can vaguely see it’s the remains of a dead spider … on my office chair. I got the shock of my life when I stood up and saw this. At first I couldn’t quite figure out what it was so I asked one of my colleagues. She thought it was just grass and told me to relax but upon further inspection we confirmed it was in fact the remains of a spider, minus 1 leg. The missing leg was about 30 cm away in the middle of my chair. God only knows how that happened. I guess I just have a killer ass.

On the weekend I discovered that after a big night out, figs are a great pick me up, especially with ice-cream and affogato. And at $10 a box fresh from Flemington Markets, it was a steal! I think weekend trips to the markets will soon become a weekly tradition, for my parents, not me. There’s no way I’m waking up anytime before midday on the weekend. That’s just silly.
