I needed a sugar hit today so I naturally gravitated to the bakery. While at the bakery I spotted one giant pink cupcake sitting amongst the other normal sized cupcakes. Fingers crossed, I asked for a pink cupcake and bingo. She picked up the giant one. You should have seen the smile on my face when I left the bakery. I think I half skipped all the way back to office.

I totally forgot I went to Vinnies on the weekend, I think because everything was so cheap, it didn’t feel like I spent any money. To add to the cheapness, there was a winter sale and all clothes were half price. That’s right half price! Could it get any cheaper.
Total spending for 2 excellent finds – $4. Bargain!

These are probably the best Tic Tacs I’ve ever had. When I popped one into my mouth, it brought me back to my primary school days when I use to wash my green apple warheads at the bubblers before eating it. I can handle the sourness now, but boy did it bring back memories. And with only 1/2 a calorie in every tic tac, it’s great huh?

This was the second time I went to a Tigers game and they’ve lost, I really think I should stop going. Maybe they’ll win if I don’t go. In fact, over the years I often think I’m a jinx on my own sporting team. I remember I use to pretend to cheer for the other team, hoping that my cheering would jinx that team instead of my own. It never actually worked, my team would still lose.
Even though my team lost and I got beer spilt all over myself, it was still a good night. I was also quite impressed with the food at the footy. I was all geared up and ready for a crappy over-priced hot dog, but instead was pleasantly surprised by a box of delicious over-priced chicken pad-thai.
As for the inflatable Tigers supporter finger, it was more of a food rest than a flag. And yes, I deflated my it before full-time and hid it in my backpack. For shame.

I love Engrish.com. It seriously cracks me up, so you could imagine how much fun I had when I saw this on the menu the other night.
Sea food fish – as oppose to any other fish you might know of?
Crap – do I really need to explain this one?
Shell – because we all love a bit of shell in our food. Mmm crunchy.
As tempted as I was, no I didn’t order the crap soup.

The place I was house sitting last week had a really cool sound system with speakers in the ceiling of every room and all along the balcony. The best thing about the sound system was that it was hooked up to a Sonos system. Sonos is kind of like a open iTunes library where you can search for any song you want. You can search by song, album or artist name. When you find the song (or album) you want to listen to, all you have to do is press play and it will immediately start playing. There’s no need to download the song or pay for the song, it just immediately starts playing over the sound system. Amazing, I know. So if you’re in the mood for some Kings of Leon (as I always am), just search for them and you can sit back, relax and enjoy the sweet sweet voice of Caleb Followill. Ahh…

If it’s a song (or album) you like and will listen to quite often, you can add the songs to your library so the next time you open your playlist it’s right there, no need to search for it.

Because Charles has been blogging about cupcakes and more cupcakes, I wanted some cupcakes. So we decided to try bake them ourselves.
I’ve never baked cupcakes before. I didn’t even know you needed a cupcake baking tray (Thanks A Luu for pointing that out!), I just thought you just put it in the paper cups on a flat tray and you’re set to go. That could have been interesting.
After carefully following the recipe (with one little hiccup), they turned out quite nice – especially fresh out of the oven.
The topping was suppose to be white chocolate frosting with fairy floss on top but who would have thought it was so hard to find fairy floss. Without the fairy floss G and I thought it would be a bit boring just having white frosting on top, so we had a stroke of genius – let’s put sprinkles in the frosting so it would have colourful lines all through it. As you can see below it didn’t quite work as planned.

The sprinkles lost all their colour and smeared into the white frosting, turning our White Fairy Cupcakes into Green Sprinkle Cupcakes.
Never the less, they were absolutely delicious.

Meet Rex. He’s the king of the house that I was house sitting last week. He’s a bit of a nervous fellow. Any little noise and he’d jump, so I had to make sure I didn’t make any sudden movements, otherwise he might freak out and fall off the roof or something, which he has done before.
Next is Rocky. He’s so carefree and playful. If you were inside his head, it’d be something like this “la di da di dah… oo leaf” then he’ll chase a leaf around the balcony. As you can imagine he’s very entertaining, he’ll chase anything that dangles or swings – including the drawstring on my hoodie and the power cable for my macbook. Sigh.

And last, but not least, is Rambo. He’s a teeny tiny 11-year old dog who came from the good people at Doggie Rescue. The poor baby was abandoned twice before coming here, so he suffers from a bit of separation anxiety. He’s such a little sweetie, he follows you all over the house and as soon as you sit down on the sofa he’ll carefully cuddle up on your lap. And he’s so small you don’t even realise he’s there.

Last week I got a flood of emails about various 2009 festivals and it got my blood rushing. My friends and I had actually agreed on “No more festivals” but as soon as I saw the line up, I knew that wouldn’t be so.
Whenever tickets come out it’s a mad crazy rush. You sit there at your desk hitting the refresh button waiting for the page to load. It’s very nerve wracking. Today was one of those mad rush days. At 12noon pre-sale tickets for Homebake 2009 were released and I was sitting at my desk stressing. It was actually really easy to get tickets, which was a nice change. Yay!
Homebake 2008 was my favourite festival last year. Mainly thanks to Pnau and Crowded House (and my mates). The picture above was from Pnau’s set which was crazy. One of the highlights was when Ladyhawk was hoisted up and flying across the stage.

You always get interesting characters at festivals. I think this guy tops the list. He starts off by getting half of his drink poured down his shirt, thanks to his good mate.

Then ends up rolling around for a good 5 minutes all tangled up with his arms and legs. Hilarious.
Oh how I miss festivals…
